OUR PRODUCTS
Advanced Manufacturing
The biochar that we produce for advanced manufacturing applications meets tight specifications provided by our customers with respect to carbon content, particle size, and a variety of other characteristics. Our biochar is typically used to displace fossil fuel products like carbon black or coal coke during the production of bioplastics, green metals, and other materials. By utilizing biochar instead of fossil fuel products, our customers reduce their environmental footprint and improve the durability of their own products.
Engineered Soils
The biochar that we produce for engineered soils applications improves the vegetative growth capacity of soil by increasing water retention, enhancing nutrient availability, and adding organic carbon. The particle size and carbon content of our biochar can be tailored to the specific requirements of each customer. Our biochar is typically used in depleted or otherwise nutrient-poor soils, including in urban settings, agricultural operations, and environmental remediation projects. By incorporating our biochar, our customers reduce their need for fertilizers and improve growth rates across their operations.
Raw Material
Our process is able to produce biochar from any kind of biomass, but our primary source of raw material is hardwood biomass produced by the private properties and hardwood sawmills in central Ontario that are managed and operated on a sustainable basis by Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve Ltd. This hardwood biomass can be chips, sawdust, or bark from a variety of different species. All our raw material is free from contamination such as paint, metal, or chemicals. We work with our customers to determine the ideal characteristics of the biochar for their application, and then select the raw material accordingly. All our raw material is harvested on a sustainable basis from our local forests and then produced in our hardwood sawmills.
